AUSTIN -- Members of the Alliance of Independent Pharmacists of Texas (Alliance) are playing an increasingly larger role in
advocating for community pharmacists across the country.

The appointment of several members to national leadership roles illustrates the vast influence of the Alliance, which is the
premier organization for community and compounding pharmacists in Texas.
Jeff Carson, R.Ph., president of Oakdell Pharmacy in San Antonio, has served as an officer of the National Community
Pharmacists Association (NCPA) for many years, and now serves on the Board of Directors, which is the country's leading organization for community independent pharmacists. Carson also serves as the Board's liaison to the NCPA Technology Committee.

Carter High, R.Ph., of Rhome Best Value Pharmacies, who is also the president-elect of the Alliance, is serving on the NCPA Committee on State Legislation and Regulation. Also serving on the Committee is Alliance Executive Director/CEO Audra Conwell, CAE. Members of the committee provide their expertise and experience to help NCPA shape its state advocacy strategy and anticipate changes that could affect community pharmacists.

In addition, Ed Horton, R.Ph., pharmacist/owner of Tanglewood Health in Stephenville, is serving on the NCPA Committee on National Legislation and Government Affairs. The committee helps shape NCPA's approach to national issues and helps NCPA as it reaches out to keep legislative and regulatory influencers.

NCPA President Bill Osborn, R.Ph., president of Osborn Drugs in Oklahoma hand-selected the members of these committees. "It's an honor for our members to advocate at both the state and national levels for community pharmacists and the patients we serve," said Lee Ann Hampton, owner of Paris Apothecary and president of the Alliance. "Alliance members are recognized nationally for their expertise and contributions to our field. The leadership our members provide at the national level makes the Alliance even stronger and more effective."
